Lima is the capital of Peru, and can be found located on the central Pacific coast. It has a population of more than 8 million inhabitants.

Founded by the viceroy Francisco Pizarro, and given the name The City of Kings, this city possesses various tourist attractions. Standing out as a historical center, it was declared “Patrimonio de la Humanidad,” or Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. In this city, you can find archeological sites, museums, plazas, and parks.

Since antiquity, the main plaza has been a center of reunions and special events. The plaza has an impressive bronze fountain constructed in 1650, and close-by, you can find the Palacio de Gobierno, or the main government building, the Palacio del Arzobispado, or the Archbishop’s Palace, Lima’s Town Hall, and the Cathedral.

The Cathedral of Lima is the best church of the city. Constructed in a Renaissance style in 1538, it was dedicated to the virgin of La Asunción. In 1991, UNESCO declared the church “Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad,” or Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Constructed in 1546, in the colonial era, this impressive religious center has Baroque-style pictures, and the famous catacombs – underground passageways where the former citizens of the city were buried.

Palace of Tagle Tower

Palace of Tagle Tower

A mansion whose construction began in the 18th century for Marqués José Bernado de Tagle, it is currently the headquarters of the Ministry of External Relations of Peru. Built in a Baroque style, two wooden balconies stand out and make this place truly unique.
