Amantani is located 38 kilometers from the port of Puno, and is about a three-and-a-half-hour boat ride away. With customs similar to Taquile Island, Amantani is a beautiful island with warm, welcoming, and hospitable residents. Its major attractions are its social atmosphere, ethnic culture, and archeology, as well as two important and well known historical sites: the Pachatata and Pachamama temples, which serve as locations to worship the Earth and land. There is also a beautiful, panoramic view of the lake, juxtaposed between the Oriental Mountain Range and the Real Mountain Range of Bolivia, which is 6,200 meters above sea level.
